Specializing in Family Law and Probate Administration
Family Law
Family law encompasses many areas: divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, modifications, prenuptual agreements, and more. With her knowledge and experience, Lisa will guide you through the challenging and complicated process of dealing with the above matters.
Probate Administration
Probate is identification, management, and distribution of the assets and debts of a loved one. Whether you are dealing with a small, uncomplicated estate or a larger estate, Lisa understands that the probate process can be difficult and challenging for families. She will compassionately guide you through the process.
Family Law
Divorce (Dissolution of Marriage)
The breakdown of a marriage for whatever reason can be stressful, both emotionally and financially to you and to your children. Lisa can help you navigate through the complex process before, during, and after a case is filed. Every effort will be made to help you settle your case to help reduce the challenges, costs and uncertainties of litigation.
Legal Separation
A legal separation in Oregon allows you and your spouse to make certain binding agreements with regard to property and child custody. However, legal separation is not the same as divorce.
Custody (Sole or Joint Custody)
Whether you are getting a divorce, filing for legal separation or you simply don’t live with your child’s other parent, having a formal child custody judgment is often necessary.
Parenting Time (Visitation)
If you don’t have custody of your child, you are still able to petition the court for parenting time. Visitation allows you to spend time with your child.
Spousal Support (Alimony)
In cases of legal separation or divorce, one spouse may be required to pay spousal support to the other.
Child Support
In many cases, Oregon law will require one parent to pay child support to the other.
Modification of Child or Spousal Support
In some cases, the circumstances that led to a specific child support or spousal support order will change.
Prenuptial Agreements
A prenuptial agreement can protect your assets in marriage, ensuring that you are able to be at peace and rest easy without worrying about your financial stability in the future.
Uncontested Divorce
If you and your spouse are able to reach an agreement on all of the issues in your case, including custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support and the division of property and debts, Lisa can help you settle and complete the court documents. Uncontested divorce tends to be less costly and time-consuming.
Probate Administration
When someone dies and leaves property behind, the estate must often be processed through the court using a procedure known as “probate.” This can occur if the deceased died with a will (testate) or without a will (intestate). In many cases, this procedure is both lengthy and complicated. It can also be emotionally exhausting when the people involved in the case are already dealing with grief.
Lisa has experience with both types of probate proceedings in the state of Oregon. Whether you are dealing with a small, uncomplicated estate or a larger estate, she can help you deal with the matter as quickly and affordably as possible.
